Andrew Furlong

Andrew Furlong graduated from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 1989 and joined University Hospitals of Leicester in September 2000 as a Consultant in Trauma and Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery. He held successive leadership roles—including Head of Service for Trauma, Deputy Training Programme Director, Clinical Director for Musculoskeletal Services, and Divisional Director for Planned Care – before being appointed Deputy Medical Director in October 2013. He served as Interim Medical Director from April 2015 until his permanent appointment in February 2016. In this role, Andrew oversees medical workforce governance, patient safety, quality, and contributes to strategic direction..
