Mark Farmer joined the UHL Trust Board as an Associate Non-Executive Director in January 2024, bringing over 25 years of experience in youth and community development across Leicester and Leicestershire. He is known for championing inclusive, person-centred approaches that address inequalities and promote mental health and wellbeing. In 2015, Mark founded one of the UK’s largest support groups for people living with fibromyalgia, demonstrating his commitment to patient advocacy and peer-led support. He co-leads the Adult Mental Health Network at NHS England and advises the Royal College of Psychiatrists, contributing to projects such as their Equalities Taskforce. Since July 2023, he has been a member of the NHS England Quality Committee.
Mark also chairs the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust People Council, overseeing an independent forum to ensure high-quality, patient-focused services. His previous roles include Board Member at Healthwatch Leicester and Leicestershire, and Co-Chair of the Integrated Care System’s Leadership Group for Mental Health.
