NIHR Research Delivery Network East Midlands

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Research Delivery Network (RDN) East Midlands supports the delivery of health research across the East Midlands region. They help provide the infrastructure that allows high-quality clinical research to take place in the NHS in the region so that patients can benefit from new and better treatments.

Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) East Midlands

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) East Midlands brings together a collaboration of local providers and commissioners of NHS services, universities, industry and other relevant organisations. It leads applied health research across the region, translating research findings into improved outcomes for patients.

National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Leicester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC)

The NIHR Leicester BRC is at the frontier of research into illnesses linked to respiratory conditions, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, chronic kidney disease and the consequences of inactivity. Its overall purpose is to translate scientific breakthroughs in these areas into diagnostic tests, preventions and life-saving treatments for patients.

NIHR Research Support Service East Midlands

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Research Support Service (RSS) East Midlands provides free design and methodological support to health researchers in the region who are developing research funding applications. The RSS supports research teams to develop and submit high quality applied health and social care grant applications to the NIHR and other open, national, peer-reviewed funding programmes. Priority is given to those applying to NIHR and nationally competitive funding streams, but where capacity allows, other design, and funding enquiries will be supported.

Health Innovation East Midlands

Health Innovation East Midlands was established in 2013, as one of 15 organisations across England acting together as the innovation arm of the NHS. HIEM transforms lives through innovation by supporting health and social care teams to find, testing and implementing new solutions to the NHS’ greatest challenges, and driving economic growth.

Health Education East Midlands (HEEM)

HEEM aims to develop a high quality, safe and sustainable workforce with the best possible education and training for students, trainees and staff. As a ‘convenor’ of the East Midlands health system, HEEM brings people together across NHS, social care and the third sector, working on large scale change, championing education and training as a lever for improvement and acting as an exemplar for workforce best practice and innovation. HEEM cover the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, and Nottinghamshire.

National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine

The National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM) is an Olympic legacy project that delivers education, research and clinical services in sport, exercise and physical activity. It aims to apply world-class expertise to policies and practice that will benefit the health and well-being of the nation, from everyday people at risk of ill health through to elite athletes.

Medipex

Medipex is a healthcare innovation hub for NHS organisations across the Yorkshire and Humber and East Midlands regions, as well as industry and academia internationally. Medipex connects the NHS with industry and academia, sharing knowledge of the NHS and commercialisation processes to facilitate the innovation cycle.

UK Health Data Research Alliance

The UK Health Data Research Alliance is an independent alliance of leading healthcare and research organisations, united to establish best practice for the ethical use of UK health data for research at scale.

The Alliance is part of the UK-wide capability for the responsible use of health data for research and innovation, funded by the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF).

Midlands and Wales Advanced Therapy Treatment Centre

The Midlands and Wales Advanced Therapy Treatment Centre (MW-ATTC) is a large regional network with the necessary commercial and NHS infrastructure required to facilitate the delivery of advanced therapy treatments to patients. The centre includes a wide range of specialists in advanced therapy manufacturing, including academic and commercial partners, logistics companies, specialists in clinical trial delivery, and teams focused on IT solutions and health economics.
