A key Government objective is to increase the number of patients who have the opportunity to participate in research and to enhance the nation’s attractiveness as a host for research. Underpinning this is a requirement for NHS Trusts to improve their performance in approving research studies (giving NHS permission) and recruiting participants to these studies.
