When you begin your post, you may be required to attend our resident doctor induction. If this applies to you, the Medical Recruitment Services Team will send you confirmation with all the relevant details.
During the induction, you will:
- Receive a warm welcome to University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL)
- Be provided with essential information about working at UHL
- Complete any required payroll and administrative forms
- Undergo IT system access checks to ensure you’re fully set up
Induction dates and locations
Corporate inductions are held on the following dates:
- FY1-specific induction: The Thursday before the first Wednesday of August, held at Leicester Tigers Stadium, Aylestone Road, Leicester LE2 7TR
- General August induction: The first Wednesday of August, also at Leicester Tigers Stadium, Aylestone Road, Leicester LE2 7TR
- December induction: The first Wednesday in December, held at the Clinical Education Centre, Level 2, Jarvis Building, Leicester Royal Infirmary, LE1 5WW
- April induction: The first Wednesday in April, held at the Clinical Education Centre, Level 2, Jarvis Building, Leicester Royal Infirmary, LE1 5WW
Service (local) induction
Following the corporate induction, you will attend a service induction specific to your clinical department. This will cover:
- your duty rota and how to apply for annual or study leave
- responsibilities within your clinical role and key contacts
- introduction to your Clinical and Educational Supervisors
- departmental structure and team orientation
- tour of the department and access to essential on-call equipment
- local teaching schedule and attendance expectations
- IT access and login information for clinical systems
- local infection control procedures and clinical guidelines
- guidance on raising concerns via DATIX, Freedom to Speak Up, or other channels
- an introduction to the Doctors in Training Committee
These inductions are designed to ensure you’re fully equipped, informed, and supported from day one.
