Our allied health professionals (AHPs) play a pivotal role in helping patients live their lives to the fullest. From restoring movement and communication to supporting recovery and independence, AHPs are at the heart of patient care across the NHS.
There are 15 recognised AHP roles — including physiotherapists, radiographers, podiatrists, occupational therapists, prosthetists, and speech and language therapists — each bringing specialist expertise to support diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.
With training, mentorship, and development opportunities, AHPs at UHL are empowered to shape their careers and make a real difference every day.
Whether you’re helping someone walk again after a stroke, supporting a child with communication difficulties, or enabling a patient to manage long-term pain, your impact as an AHP is life-changing.
You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, and social care professionals, in a variety of settings — from busy hospital wards to patients’ homes and community clinics.
AHP degree programmes combine academic learning with practical placements, ensuring you gain the hands-on experience needed to hit the ground running in a rewarding, patient-focused career.
