Women and families across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland are being encouraged to tune in to new episodes of the Leicester Maternity Matters podcast, created by maternity teams at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL).
The podcast, which launched in 2025, was developed to give expectant parents easy access to trusted information about pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. It was created in response to feedback from local families who wanted more flexible ways to access guidance outside of traditional face-to-face sessions.
Delivered by UHL’s own midwives, doctors and specialists, each episode offers clear, compassionate advice to help women and their families feel informed, confident and supported through every stage of their pregnancy journey.
The podcast can be listened to anytime—whether at home, on the move or alongside daily routines—making it easier than ever to access reliable maternity information.
A new series of episodes has now been released, covering a range of important topics:
- Your care during a caesarean birth – anaesthesia and pain relief
- Building a relationship with your baby during pregnancy
- Pain around the back, hips or thighs during pregnancy (pelvic girdle pain)
- Pelvic floor exercises
These episodes provide practical advice, reassurance, and expert insight into common questions and experiences during pregnancy.
Leicester Maternity Matters is designed not only for expectant mothers, but also for partners and wider family members who want to better understand how to offer support.
By improving access to clear, evidence-based information, the podcast helps families understand their options and choices, feel more confident preparing for birth, and know what to expect during pregnancy and beyond, ensuring women and their families have a positive and informed maternity experience.
Whether you are newly pregnant, preparing for birth, or supporting a loved one, the podcast offers trusted guidance whenever you need it.
Leicester Maternity Matters is available on Spotify, and other podcast platforms.
