The expanded TrustMed Pharmacy at the Glenfield Hospital (GH) has officially opened, marking the completion of a programme of work to upgrade pharmacy facilities across University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL).
After a successful four-month refurbishment, the TrustMed GH pharmacy offers new benefits to patients and colleagues including a consultation room, staff room and extra computer systems to increase dispensing capacity and reduce waiting times.
The step-free layout has been designed with accessibility in mind for all patients and colleagues, while a buzzer system has been introduced, allowing patients to leave the pharmacy and be notified when their prescription is ready to collect.
The project follows on from recent investment to improve UHL’s TrustMed pharmacies at the Leicester General Hospital and Leicester Royal Infirmary.

A celebration event to mark the opening of the improved facility was attended by Chief Executive, Richard Mitchell, on Thursday 12 March.
Operations Manager, Reena Lakhani said: “It was great to bring colleagues together to share our pride in the hard work that’s been done to improve patient safety and colleague wellbeing through this project.
“It is a radical overhaul, which has resulted in a bigger, better, more accessible space to provide an improved experience for patients and colleagues alike.
“I would like to thank the TrustMed pharmacy team at Glenfield Hospital for their outstanding commitment to ensuring services continued throughout the refurbishment period, as well as the clinic teams who worked through the disruption.”
