Congratulations to Mohamed Rahman, Chief Pharmacist at UHL, who has been appointed as a Fellow of the Royal College of Pharmacy (RCP), one of the highest honours awarded by the College.
Mohamed is one of 34 pharmacy professionals from across the UK to be named in the Royal College of Pharmacy’s inaugural cohort of Fellows, recognising outstanding contributions to the profession.
Fellowship is awarded to pharmacists who have made a significant contribution to pharmacy through leadership, innovation, education, research or service development. Nominated by their peers, Fellows are recognised for the impact they have made on the profession and patient care.
Speaking about the award, Mohamed said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as a Fellow of the Royal College of Pharmacy. This is a tremendous honour, and I am very grateful to the Royal College and to those who nominated me for this recognition.
“I would also like to thank the many colleagues, mentors and teams who have supported me throughout my career. This Fellowship reflects a shared commitment to advancing pharmacy practice and improving care for patients.
“It is a privilege to be recognised alongside so many accomplished pharmacy professionals, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to the profession, helping to drive improvements in patient care and outcomes both locally and nationally.”
Mohamed joined UHL in 2024 and has worked in the NHS for more than 28 years. With nearly two decades of leadership experience, he has held Chief Pharmacist roles in trusts across the East Midlands.
Alongside his NHS leadership roles, Mohamed has made a substantial contribution to the pharmacy profession nationally. He is a former Chair of the UK Clinical Pharmacy Association (UKCPA) and previously chaired its Surgery and Theatres Committee, helping to shape surgical pharmacy practice across the UK. He has also contributed to the development of national standards for hospital pharmacy services, served on a number of national pharmacy leadership groups, and has participated in parliamentary panels and reports relating to pharmacy policy and practice.
Mohamed has played an active role in education and research throughout his career, leading postgraduate teaching, contributing to clinical publications and supporting the professional development of pharmacists both regionally and nationally.
