Adult hearing service

The adult hearing service includes assessments and the fitting of digital hearing aids tailored to your child’s individual needs, with follow-up appointments to ensure comfort and effectiveness. Our hearing therapy support includes help for tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and hyperacusis (sound sensitivity), along with counselling and practical strategies to manage hearing difficulties.

They also provide balance and vestibular services, offering assessments for balance-related issues and rehabilitation to support those experiencing dizziness or balance disorders.

  • Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA): For those with specific hearing needs.
  • Paediatric hearing services: Hearing assessments and aid fittings for children.
  • Lip reading courses: To support communication.
  • Swim plugs: To protect ears during swimming.
  • Assistive listening devices: To enhance hearing in various environments.
  • Home visits: For those unable to attend clinics.
  • Charity work: Supporting Mandalay School for the Deaf.

If you are aged 75 or over and are new to Hearing Services, you may now refer yourself for a hearing assessment. If appropriate, you may be offered free digital NHS hearing aids as part of your care.

Before you continue

Please only proceed with self-referral if all of the following statements are true:

  • Your ears have been examined and are clear of wax
  • Both eardrums are intact
  • You do not experience fluctuating hearing loss, persistent ear pain (longer than 7 days), or ear discharge within the last 90 days
  • You do not have hearing loss in just one ear (unilateral hearing loss), or unilateral/troublesome tinnitus, or pulsatile tinnitus
  • You do not suffer from dizziness or vertigo

If any of the above statements do not apply, please do not continue with the self-referral process. Instead, contact your GP for a consultation.

Once we receive your form, we will send you an email to confirm receipt. All self-referrals are subject to review and acceptance by the service.
