Children’s and Young People’s Integrated Cancer Service (EMCYPICS)

The East Midlands Children’s and Young People’s Integrated Cancer Service (EMCYPICS) provides a specialist, integrated approach to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer in children and young people aged 0 to 18.

Although cancer in this age group is rare, most types can be successfully treated. If cancer is suspected, a dedicated team of professionals will support you and your family through the investigations needed to reach a diagnosis—and, if necessary, begin treatment.

The EMCYPICS team is based at Nottingham Children’s Hospital (Queen’s Medical Centre) and Leicester Children’s Hospital (Leicester Royal Infirmary), working in close partnership with other specialists across the region and beyond when required.

We also work collaboratively with Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Units at Northampton General Hospital and United Lincolnshire Hospitals (Lincoln and Boston), as well as local district hospitals and community services across the East Midlands to ensure care is well coordinated and accessible.

The service’s vision is that every child or young person with cancer – or suspected cancer – and their family receives high-quality, safe, and effective care, alongside emotional and practical support, delivered in environments that promote comfort, dignity, and healing.
