Our hospitals can be very busy so we encourage patients and visitors to use public transport, walk or cycle to our hospitals if you are fit and well. You can also use the Choose How You Move journey planner below to see alternative travel options for your journey.
A patient transport service is available for patients who cannot travel to, or from, our hospitals for non-emergency treatment because they have a medical need that prevents them from using private or public transport. You can find out more and see eligibility information here.
By bus
Hospital Hopper: The Hospital Hopper is a fully electric shuttle service running every 30 minutes, Monday to Friday, hourly on Saturdays, and hourly during peak times on Sundays. It links Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital, and Glenfield Hospital with key locations including Beaumont Leys, Hamilton Centre, Leicester Railway Station, and the Park and Ride at St Nicholas Circle. Park and ride: The Park and Ride service from Enderby stops at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. It operates every 15 minutes from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday. The service also operates at weekend. You can find more information and timetables on the Park and Ride website.
Hop: The free Hop service loops the City Centre, serving Haymarket Bus Station, Highcross, Jubilee Square, Leicester Royal Infirmary, Railway Station and the Market. It operates every 10 minutes from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday (excluding bank holidays). Find out more about the Hop service.
By cycle
You can securely lock you cycle to stands near to the front of the Balmoral building and in the car park near to Adults Emergency Department. You can see a site map here.

By car
Our car parks can be extremely busy and at peak times you may have to queue to enter the car park. If you choose to travel by car, you may need to allow extra time for your journey. Find more information about car park locations and charges on our website.
By coach

By train
Leicester Railway Station is located on London Road, close to the city centre. The station is fully accessible, with lifts providing step-free access to platforms and the main concourse. The Hospital Hopper shuttle bus departs from directly outside Leicester Railway Station every 30 minutes throughout the day, Monday to Friday.
