This page is designed to help family members and carers access the advice and support that’s right for them.
A carer is anyone – whether a family member, friend, or neighbour – who provides support to someone who, due to age, illness, disability, or addiction, cannot manage on their own. This includes adult carers as well as children and young people with caring responsibilities.
We recognise the vital role carers play in supporting patients – both before hospital admission and after discharge. We are committed to recognising and involving carers as partners in care.
If you are a carer, we want to ensure you feel supported and included during the hospital stay of the person you care for. With their consent, we will involve you in their care planning and discharge arrangements.
If you are a carer and become a patient yourself, please inform hospital staff about your caring responsibilities so we can support you appropriately.
We are here to listen and explore how we can help you in your caring role.
